2 1/4 cups chopped onions
2 tablespoons butter
Salt and pepper
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
2 eggs, beaten
7/8 cup sour cream
Pastry:
1 1/2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup plus 1 tablespoon lard
Milk
Mix the pastry like biscuit dough. Sift the dry ingredients, cut in the lard with a pastry cutter and add enough milk so it can be rolled. Line a pie plate with it, fill with the onion mixture and bake about 20 minutes, or until set, in a hot to low oven (7 minutes at 400 f., then turn down to 300 f). . To make the filling sauté the onions in the butter until tender but not brown, salt and pepper them and put them in the dough. Mix the other ingredients, adding a little salt and pepper and pour over the onions.
