Chocolate Marshmallow Filled Cookies

1 cup sugar
1/2 cups butter plus 1 tablespoon lard
Pinch of salt
1 tablespoon each cinnamon and cloves
2 tablespoons sweet ground chocolate
1 egg, well beaten
1 teaspoon soda, dissolved in 2 tablespoons milk
2 1/2 cups flour
Large marshmallows

Cream together sugar, butter and lard. Then add salt, cinnamon, cloves and 2 tablespoons sweet ground chocolate, dissolved in water. Now add egg and soda dissolved in milk. Add flour, enough to roll out nicely. Roll dough out very thin (1/8-inch thick) and cut with 2 1/2-inch cookie cutter. Bake at 350 degrees on greased cookie sheet for about 4 minutes, then add large marshmallows to half the cookies on sheet. When cookies have browned and the marshmallows puff, remove from oven. While still hot, top the cookies with marshmallows and press firmly in place.
