Divinity

5 cups sugar
1 cup light corn syrup
1 cup water
3 egg whites, stiffly beaten
1 tablespoon vanilla flavoring
1 cup chopped english walnuts or pecans
1/2 cup chopped black walnuts


Cook sugar, syrup and water to soft ball stage. Add one-half of the hot mixture to egg whites; beat until cool. Let remaining syrup cool until it forms hard ball in cold water. Add to egg white mixture; beat until smooth. Add vanilla and nuts. Pour into buttered pan; spread 1-inch thick. Cut into squares.
