Frosted Butterscotch Cookies

1 1/2 cups brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup shortening
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon each baking powder and salt
1/2 pint (1 cup) sour cream
1/2 cup minced nuts
Golden butter frosting

Golden butter frosting:
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
2 cups powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
Coarsely chopped nuts


Preheat oven to 400 degrees f. Grease cookie sheet. Cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs and vanilla; mix well. Combine flour, soda, baking powder and salt and add alternately with sour cream; mix well. Stir in nuts. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto cookie sheet. Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until cookies are puffed and lightly browned. When cookies are cool, frost with golden butter frosting. Golden butter frosting: Heat butter until golden brown. Blend in sugar and vanilla. Spread on cookies. (if frosting becomes stiff, stir in a few drops of warm water). Dip frosted top of cookies into nuts.
